Your Spiritual Closet
If you come to the Lord
seeking spiritual growth
so you can walk deeper
& farther with Him,
You really must be prepared
for what happens next
and the process about to begin.
For He will take you by the hand
and open the door
to the "spiritual closet"
you hold inside.
He will show you things of self...
hidden back on the shelf
and long-forgotten issues of pride.
He will pull off the blinders
you keep on your eyes
to show prejudices
you hold in your heart.
And He will take all
the negative attitudes you have
and address them
as each new day starts.
He will shake up your priorities
& rearrange what's important
until He gets the proper
glory He's due.
And the dust of complacency
won't have time to settle
because His cleaning
will never be through.
For to enter His presence
& drink of His holiness
requires a cleansing
of things deep inside.
And it takes true humility...
letting Him pull out and show you
all the clutter that you'd rather hide.
When you see yourself
for who you really are
a sinner daily
in need of His grace,
Then you're ready for growth
and all the things He will show you
when you seek out the light of His face.
