that God has been laying upon your heart recently.

Contest Closes February 25th, 2013
After many years of writing her own words in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to be more attentive to the Savior's voice and begin listening for what He was saying. So with pen in hand, she embarked on a journey that forever changed her—and many others around the world.

In these powerful pages are the words and Scriptures Jesus lovingly laid on her heart. Words of reassurance, comfort, and hope. Words that have made her increasingly aware of His presence and allowed her to enjoy His peace.

Jesus is calling out to you in the same way. Maybe you share the author’s need for a great sense of “God with you”. Or perhaps Jesus seems distant without you knowing why. Or maybe you have wandered farther from Him that you ever imagined you would. Here is a year’s worth of daily readings from Young’s journals to bring you closer to Christ and move your time with Him from monologue to a dialogue.

Each day is written as if Jesus Himself were speaking to you. Because He is.
Do you hear Him calling?

Uniquely inspired treasures from heaven
for every day of the year
by missionary Sarah Young.

Author info:
Sarah Young is quietly leading millions of men and women worldwide on a journey of intimacy with Christ. Her devotional books include the #1 bestseller Jesus Calling and the top sellers Jesus Calling for Kids, Dear Jesus, and Jesus Lives. Sarah and her husband have travelled extensively around the world planting churches and counselling. They are currently ministering to Japanese people and helping establish an international church in Australia.

Thank you Thomas Nelson
for sponsoring another amazing giveaway!!

...stay tuned...more great things to come!!!

The following Scripture verse is one that keeps confronting me, whether in the Bible itself, in devotionals, a current Bible study on Mark, and even on the recent front cover of a magazine. It's one the Lord is making quite the personal question to me:

"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" ~ Mark 8:29

Thanks for having this contest, Karla. :)

Psalms 46:10, "Be Still and know that I am God" has been helping me get through it all.

Helping me to concentrate on being content.

One scripture that I have been really meditating on is Isaiah 58:11. Been reading it over and over for days. I took the time to read it in The Message version and this phrase really caught my attention "I’ll give you a full life in the emptiest of places."

Just this morning I was reading one of my many devotionals and was struck by this verse from Psalm 34:7,

"The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers then."

The author of the devotional said - "To fear the LOrd means to honor Him and magnify HIm most of all in my heart. When I magnify my fears instead, they become all I can think about." I speak to women's groups about living a life of hope and not fear relating my own experience as a breast cancer survivor. This is a powerful verse.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. (Psalms 23:1-6 NKJV)

This helps me through my chronic daily pain.

And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

"...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,

Jesus is my Valentine! The scripture that reminds me to keep eye contact with Him is Heb 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

On Friday I returned from a conference in Kiev, Ukraine, the goal of which was to encourage believers to adopt orphans indigenously. Over and over various speakers referred to the following verse:

Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their misfortune and to keep oneself unstained by the world. (James 1:27, NET)

It touched me deeply to see how Christians in former Soviet republics, with very little materially, have been stepping up to the plate to care for their own. I've been meditating on this verse ever since.

He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:“‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Mark 7:6 (NIV)

I'm asking the Lord to allow whatever it takes to keep my heart close to Him!

I would be thrilled to win a copy of "Jesus Calling" it sounds very interesting to me!

The Lord has been really speaking to me through Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

I need to trust him no matter what is hapening and no matter where He leads me.

It isn't really just one verse, but a whole chapter in Psalms.

Psalm 67
The Message (MSG)
67 1-7 God, mark us with grace
and blessing! Smile!
The whole country will see how you work,
all the godless nations see how you save.
God! Let people thank and enjoy you.
Let all people thank and enjoy you.
Let all far-flung people become happy
and shout their happiness because
You judge them fair and square,
you tend the far-flung peoples.
God! Let people thank and enjoy you.
Let all people thank and enjoy you.
Earth, display your exuberance!
You mark us with blessing, O God, our God.
You mark us with blessing, O God.
Earth’s four corners—honor him!

-- Just mainly how important it is for us as God's people to recognize the importance of thanking and praising God for all His blessings big and small. Even when we cannot see the road ahead of us, we should still thank Him continuously for what we are so fortunate to have.

As our family made the decision to place our 92-year-old father in Hospice care this weekend, I am reminded of his favorite passage from Paul's 2nd letter to Timothy:
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day —and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

For the past year I've felt like God had given up on me. Everything in my life that could go wrong, did. Yet, somehow, I keep being reminded of the scripture, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
Romans 12:18–19

I've been struggling with certain relationships/friendships...and the Lord placed this scripture in my lap...THANK YOU ABBA!!!
