Cell Phone vs. Bible

Wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible
like we treat our cell phones?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to our kids as gifts?

What if we used it as we traveled?

What if we used it in case of an emergency?

This is something to make you go ... hmm ... where is my Bible?

Oh, and one more thing...
Unlike our cell phone, we don't ever have to worry
about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill!

Makes you stop & think...Where are my priorities?

A Powerful Thought...

ONE CROSS—nearly new. I cannot carry it and keep up with the world and its crowd.

ONE TALENT—new, except slightly shelf-worn; it has been laid away for several years.

ONE FIVE-PIECE SET OF ARMOR—all pieces in good shape, only need polishing.

ONE BUNDLE OF CHRISTIAN OPPORTUNITIES—one, that of going to church every Sunday; another the opportunity of being a soul winner. I seldom use these opportunities, so have decided to let them go with the sale.

ONE BADLY USED CHRISTIAN INFLUENCE—buyer may be able to repair it if carefully handled.

The above-mentioned items are in the basement of my house, located at the corner of : Careless Avenue and Neglect Street.

Growing in Christ

Saturday, March 17, 2007

We know we are growing in our spiritual relationship with Christ when:
1. We become increasingly aware of our sinfulness and inadequacies.
2. Our response to sin is quick and followed by genuine repentance.
3. Spiritual battles are more fierce but we are still rejoicing.
4. We begin to see trials and temptations as opportunities for growth.
5. We begin service to Him as a high honor not a burden.
6. We are able to view everything that happens to us as coming from God.
7. We sense our faith is growing stronger.
8. We desire to spend more time in genuine praise and worship.
9. Our desire to obey Him is more intense and sin becomes less and less attractive to us.
10. We are eager to share with others what Christ is doing in our lives.
11. We are experiencing an increasing awareness of His presence.
12. We jealously guard our private time of prayer and Bible reading.
13. We prefer to spend more time with Him above all others.

What Brandmark Does Your Life Display?

Do You Know These Brands?

Take a close look at the brands in this picture. Do you recognize them? When you see the brand, do you have an idea of what they represent? Most likely, you do! These brandmarks are found on the products of the companies that created them, and you identify them right away.

If you see a can with a “Coke” brand on it, you have specific expectations about what is inside the can! If you see a newspaper with “USA Today” marking its top, then you expect certain things inside that paper simply because of its brand.

Here’s a question for you – when people look at you, what do they expect?
Let’s take it a step further – what “brandmark” does your life display to those around you?

In Galatians 6:17, Paul says ”...for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Jesus.”

The question for each of us is what brandmarks do we show?

Life Changing

Don't Be a Thermometer, Be a Thermostat

"Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking."Romans 12:2 TM

Don't be a thermometer, be a thermostat. Thermometers just reflect the climate around them - thermostats set it. Actually, they lift it! Most of us are like thermometers reflecting the culture around us. We buy things others buy, say things others say, wear things others wear, and value things others value. Oh, there are slight variations, but most of the time we don't set the climate for the world we live in; we simply adjust to it. But not overcomers! No, they take life to the next level. They become thermostats and change the environment in which they're placed. For instance, you may know people who raise the Spiritual temperature of a group or determine the attitudes of others just by being present. They're pacesetters. They influence, rather than merely allowing others to influence them. Paul's challenge to the Romans was to move from being a thermometer to being a thermostat. Listen: "Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognise what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you" (Ro 12:2 TM). God calls us to be authentic. The word authentic comes from the Greek word 'to author'. It means to read God's script for your life and then write your own story, not copy somebody else's. That's living. That's being a thermostat, not a thermometer!
