Ransomed by Jesus

Can you think of someone in your life who has joy? I met someone recently whose body radiated joy. If someone had not told me, I never would have known she had three terminal diseases. Her life wasn’t pain-free, but she had complete joy. Our first conversation explained why. She was in love with Jesus.

My friend had been ransomed! She realized exactly what Jesus had done for her and knew there would come a time when sorrow and sighing would flee away. In Luke 2:10, the angel says, “I bring you good tidings of great joy.” What was this joy? It was Jesus! You, too, have been ransomed by Jesus—the only One who could possibly save you. – Denise Jones

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” -Isaiah 43:1–3

You were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. -1 Peter 1:18–19

The ransomed of the Lord shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall flee away. -Isaiah 51:11
